Dianetics, L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology
As a Scientologist I am always interested in finding helpful information on my religion on the Net. Here are some of my favorite ones:
David Miscavige's Address from the Grand Opening of The Church of Scientology, D.C. The Scientology church in Washington DC is still known as the Founding Church of Scientology. L. Ron Hubbard was the executive director of this church and much of the know-how he developed on the subject of administration came out of that era. Several years ago a new building was completely refurbished for the Church of Scientology in DC, and the Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, Mr. David Miscavige, came for the grand opening. David Miscavige gave a speech in which he covered some of the history of Scientology in DC, and this site commemorates that event, and reproduces a transcript of the speech.
Church of Scientology Defined This is the Columbia Encyclopedia entry on the Scientology religion. It's interesting seeing what an encyclopedia considers to be important about a subject. To me, the most important thing about Scientology is how much it has helped people, and the great number of people it has helped -- but even more, the individual successes.
The Scientology Volunteer Ministers web site is one of my favorites because I'm a Volunteer Minister, and it is one of the things that I do that I feel best about. By studying the chapters of the Scientology Handbook you learn how to help people fix up failing relationships, help their kids learn to read, help people come off drugs, help people with their problems at work, patch up marriages. What I've seen is the more I help others, the better I do myself.
The CESNUR site has a good page on Scientology . CESNUR is the Center for the Study of New Religions, and it works to increase religious tolerance, something the world really needs more of.
Just as DC is a significant location for Scientologists, theChurch of Scientology in the UK is also very important to us. In the mid-60's L. Ron Hubbard moved to England and lived at East Grinstead . His research breakthroughs comprise what we call the Bridge to total freedom laid out on the Classification and Gradation chart.
For more sites about Scientology I recommend the Google Directory - on the subject "What Is Scientology"
